Meet the Artist
Malakai Reed is an Australian multi-disciplinary artist who mainly focuses on digital illustration and character design. Growing up around a progressive and ever-expanding community, Reed's works are highly inspired by political conflict from the past decade, Reed explores fantasy work that dabbles in themes of political injustice, self-identity, and power imbalance. His work intends to transport the viewer into another dimension with his vastly built and written worlds, through colour and environment he immerses the viewer. Reed's own experience as a queer artist informs his work and characters, aiming to push the limits of comfort and expectation.
Inspiration
Malakai Reed has always been passionately driven by fantasy pop culture and traditional mythology from all corners of the globe. Reed draws on references and concepts from a variety of video games and tv shows, particularly anime and souls-like game with emphasis on colour palette and texture. A life long artist and writer, Reed chooses to share his creativity with others in the hopes of inspiring other artists.
